Mudroom Locker Systems
The mudroom or entryway of your home, is a great place to customize, and renovate. It is also the place where you will make a first, last and lasting impression on the guests entering and leaving your home. If you have gotten to the point where the flooring is done, the walls are painted and everything else too leaving only the storage to finish. Mudroom locker systems are a great direction to go. They offer quick, convenient access and cleanup for its users; they offer a clean, organized look to the space; and are great if you have kids. There are different kids available, and I will discuss the options for different mudroom locker systems.
How should I Plan for my Mudroom Lockers?
On a piece of paper, draw the square or rectangle that will represent the wall where the lockers are going to go. Measure from the corners to any features that are there (windows, doors, furnace vents, etc.) and mark them on the sheet. Also measure the size of the feature. Next, do a rough drawing of how you think you would like the lockers to look. This will be of great assistance, when shopping for a pre-made mudroom locker system, or if you are heading to a local woodworker or cabinetmaker to have them custom built. Every little bit of information helps, and they will be pleased at the effort you have taken to give them more detail.
Where are Mudroom Locker Systems Sold?
Honestly, it is very hard to find a store that offers “off the rack” items like Mudroom Storage Systems. It is a newer trend and was used more commercially to this point (daycares, schools, arenas) and homeowners are just beginning to realize the advantages of these systems. Many stores that sell cabinetry could likely make something fit into the space you have. Whether it be with bookcases, pantry type cabinets, upper cabinets for a kitchen or whatever. They usually do have something you would like.
In terms of getting traditional or a Mudroom locker system that is more near to the pictures you have likely seen, or samples in daycares and such; chances are they were built by a custom cabinetmaker. These are easy projects for them. Simple construction, shelving, and framework. The cabinetmaker will have a chance to be creative, plus have an easy alternative to pick up a new client. This might also give them an idea for a side business for down times in the cabinet business. Be sure to take your measurement list and diagrams wherever you go, and be ready to explain it to them.
These mudroom locker systems are a great way to simplify, yet beautify the look of your room, and the entry to your home. It is a chance to allow you to be creative, and the builder too. This is a decision, that neither of you will regret to see through. When the project is finished you will have somewhere for the kids to call their own outside of their bedroom, and if they already go to daycare, or elementary school, it may allow them the cleanliness habits they have there to bleed into your home, and that is always a good thing!
